      <image:caption>Danielle Chubb is Associate Professor in International Relations in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Deakin University, and a founding member of the POLIS group within the Alfred Deakin Institute for Citizenship and Globalisation. Her research focuses on the intersections of human rights, peace, and security norms, with particular emphasis on transnational activism, security on the Korean peninsula, and attitudes towards Australian foreign and defence policy. Danielle is the author of Australian Public Opinion, Defence and Foreign Policy: Attitudes and Trends Since 1945 (Palgrave, 2021, co-authored with Professor Ian McAllister) and Contentious Activism and Inter-Korean Relations (Columbia University Press, 2014). She also edited North Korean Human Rights: Activists and Networks (Cambridge University Press, 2018, with Professor Andrew Yeo). In 2024, Danielle co-edited the Australia in the World Series, published by the Australian Institute of International Affairs and Cambridge University Press. Danielle serves as an Associate Editor for Foreign Policy Analysis, a journal of the International Studies Association. Danielle has previously held academic and research positions at institutions such as The Australian National University, Hawaii Pacific University, and Pacific Forum CSIS.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>Bec Strating is the Director of La Trobe Asia and an Associate Professor in Politics in the Department of Politics, Media and Philosophy at La Trobe University, Melbourne. Her research primarily focuses on maritime disputes in Asia and Australian foreign and defence policy. She has written three monographs, most recently “Defending the Maritime Rules-Based Order” (2020). In 2019 she was awarded an Asian Studies Visiting Fellowship to research at the East West Center in Washington DC for three months. She has also been a visiting affiliate fellow at the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies in Singapore, an affiliated researcher at Georgetown University, and a non-visiting fellow at the Perth US Asia Centre. She has co-edited two special journal issues and written multiple journal articles and book chapters, including in Pacific Review, Asian Studies Review, Contemporary Southeast Asia, and the Australian Handbook of International Law. In 2019, her second monograph, “The Post-Colonial Security Dilemma”, was published with the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies. In 2018, she was awarded the prestigious Boyer Prize by the Australian Institute of International Affairs for best article published in the Australian Journal of International Affairs in 2017 for her paper ‘Timor-Leste’s Foreign Policy Approach to the Timor Sea: Pipeline or Pipedream?’ Bec is on the editorial boards of the Australian Journal of International Affairs and the Journal of Territorial and Maritime Studies and was a commissioning editor for Australian Outlook (2019-2020). She contributes commentary pieces for organisations such as Lowy Institute, The Conversation, and Australian Outlook, and provides comment to media including the ABC, the Australian, and Sydney Morning Herald. She has testified in Australian federal parliament as an expert witness. She tweets @becstrating.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Maria Bio - Maria Rost Rublee, President of WIIS-Australia</image:title>
      <image:caption>Maria Rost Rublee is Professor of International Relations at the University of Melbourne, with expertise in international relations, including nuclear politics, maritime security, and gender and diversity in national security.  She was recently named to the U.S. National Security &amp; Foreign Affairs Leadership List (Top 50 selected globally), by the Center for Strategic &amp; International Studies &amp; Diversity in National Security Network, Washington DC. Her research agenda on the social construction of national security is internationally recognized, leading to an award-winning monograph, two edited books, and over 40 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, in addition to non-traditional research outputs.  The international esteem accorded to her work is underscored by her successful grant record, with almost $2 million in competitive external grants, and almost $700,000 as the sole or lead chief investigator, including with the U.S. Institute of Peace, the Australian Department of Defence, the Canadian Department of Defence, and the Japan Foundation, among others.  She is a sought-after speaker and media commentator, providing dozens of media interviews each year, lectures and invited discussions with policy officials and experts, policy-related op-eds, and features on policy podcasts.  As a global leader in national security, Rublee has created new research and professional collaborations, including with the Carnegie Corporation-funded Bridging the Gap program, and the creation of the Global Taskforce on Diversity in Security Studies through the International Studies Association.  Her Ph.D. is from George Washington University.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>Afeeya Akhand is a researcher with expertise in foreign policy and national security. She is an Emerging Associate at the National Security College at the Australian National University and a Young Leader with the Pacific Forum. Her research interests span Australia–South Korea bilateral relations, climate change and anti-racism. Afeeya brings diverse experience across government, think tanks and the consulting sector, having held roles at organisations including the Australian Strategic Policy Institute and Department of Defence. She has written for publications such as The Strategist, The Mandarin and Australian Outlook, and she has provided media commentary for outlets including ABC and SBS News. Driven by both lived and professional experience, Afeeya is a strong advocate for increasing racial diversity and intersectionality in Australia’s foreign policy and national security sectors. She serves as Secretary of Women in International Security – Australia Inc. and is the Head of Research and Policy at anti-racism not-for-profit, Careers in Colour. Afeeya holds a Master of International Security from the University of Sydney, specialising in Korean language, and Bachelors in Laws with Honours and Finance from the Australian National University. In 2024, Afeeya was recognised as a Young Woman to Watch by Young Australians in International Affairs.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>Grace Corcoran is the Senior Policy and Projects Manager – Geopolitics and Security at the Australia India Institute. She is particularly interested in Australian foreign policy in Asia, regional security, minilateralism and development cooperation, with over eight years’ experience designing and delivering high-level dialogues, strategic initiatives, and policy research across South and Southeast Asia. Prior to joining the Institute, Grace managed DFAT-funded social protection programs across the Asia-Pacific at Development Pathways, providing technical policy advice and overseeing a multimillion-dollar regional portfolio. As Program Lead – Diplomacy at Asialink, she directed over 100 strategic initiatives, including the ASEAN-Australia Special Summit Emerging Leaders Dialogue, the ASEAN-Australia-New Zealand Dialogue, and bilateral forums on digital health, green economy, and strategic engagement across India, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Malaysia. Grace was a member of the New Colombo Plan (NCP) External Advisory Group in 2024, advising the Assistant Foreign Minister on youth mobility and regional education strategy. She was the first NCP Scholar to the Federated States of Micronesia and has undertaken fieldwork and policy roles in Sri Lanka, the Philippines, the Maldives, and Canada. In 2023, she was named one of Australia’s Young Women to Watch in International Affairs, and has held leadership positions with Amnesty International Australia and the Victorian Pride Lobby. Grace holds a Master of Development Studies from the University of Melbourne and a double Bachelor’s degree in Public Health and Global Studies from the Australian Catholic University.</image:caption>
