Past and Future Events.
In anticipation of the release of the Women in Strategic Policy (WISP) program’s first policy paper and ahead of International Women’s Day, WISP and Women in International Security – Australia Inc. (WIIS-A) are delighted to invite you to a panel event delving into the importance of diverse voices in shaping the future trajectory of the AUKUS partnership.
This panel discussion will bring together a range of experts to share insights about AUKUS Pillar I and II including the role of young women and women from intersectional backgrounds in informing the discourse surrounding AUKUS.
The reason why we are holding this event is clear: the perspectives of women continue to be marginalised in the national security sector. Although elevating gender equity is being increasingly prioritised, more needs to be done to ensure that the women are equally afforded the opportunity to have their voices heard on the critical issues shaping Australia’s national security especially AUKUS.
Co-hosted by the Australian Institute of International Affairs – Queensland (AIIA-QLD) with Women in International Security – Australia (WIIS-A) Inc., this event will bring together an esteemed panel of female practitioners currently navigating the field of international affairs. Each panellist will share their lived experience on how intersectionality affects them on a personal level, and more broadly how intersectional inclusion impacts research outcomes and policymaking. Ultimately, the panel event will deepen participants' understanding about the value of adopting an intersectional lens to international affairs.
Women in International Security-Australia, Inc. (WIIS-A) is delighted to host a "Meet the Expert" event with Shatabhisha Shetty, Executive Director for the Asia-Pacific Leadership Network.
