Se Youn Park, Director of Research, WIIS-Australia

Se Youn is a feminist security studies scholar based at the University of Queensland, where she holds both research and teaching roles. Her work examines the gendered dimensions of security governance, with a particular focus on how institutional rules shape the regulation of women returnees from ISIS in Australia and the United Kingdom. Her secondary research agenda explores gendered political polarisation and online misogyny in South Korea. She brings regional expertise in Australia, the United Kingdom, and South Korea to her comparative and interdisciplinary work. Se Youn completed her PhD in International Relations at the University of Queensland in 2025, following an Honours degree in the same field in 2019.
